Every year, about 42 million people from all across the globe take the trek to Las Vegas to see what it’s all about. The most popular times to visit Las Vegas are the spring and fall seasons, but you shouldn’t sleep on the idea of taking a winter vacation to Sin City.
Of all the winter vacation destinations that you can choose from, Las Vegas should land somewhere near the top of your list when you’re doing vacation planning. There are so many fun things to do in Vegas during the winter months.
Want to find out more about why you should take a trip to Vegas this winter? Check out seven reasons why a Vegas vacation would be the perfect winter vacation this year.
1. The Las Vegas Weather Is Refreshing in the Winter
If you visit Las Vegas any time between May and September, you’re going to be asking for trouble. The temperature routinely climbs up above the 100-degree Fahrenheit mark during these months.
The winter months, on the other hand, are a whole lot milder. The highs in December, January, and February will typically fall somewhere in the 50s or 60s, with the lows dropping down into the 20s and 30s in many cases.
But even still, it’s going to be way warmer in Las Vegas in the wintertime than it will be in most other parts of the country. It’s one of the top reasons why you should book a winter vacation in Las Vegas.
2. There Are Tons of Things to Do in Vegas in the Winter
Some people might try to tell you that there isn’t enough going on in Las Vegas in the winter to justify a trip there. But that couldn’t be further from the truth! Your schedule will be jam-packed during a winter vacation in Vegas.
If you travel to Las Vegas around the holiday season, you can swing by and enjoy the Holiday Magic at the LINQ Promenade. You can also make sure you’re able to get a seat on the Stratosphere Observation Deck so that you can get the best views of Vegas.
Additionally, you can go ice skating at the Cosmopolitan or enjoy a drink at one of the coolest bars in town. You aren’t going to get bored for a single second when you go on a winter vacation in Vegas.
3. Hang Out Inside and Outside on a Winter Vacation in Vegas
If you go to Las Vegas during the dog days of summer, you’re going to have almost no choice but to spend the bulk of your days indoors. It’ll be way too hot for you to venture outside for any more than a few minutes at a time.
But when you go to Las Vegas in the winter, you can hang out both inside and outside whenever you want. It would be well worth taking outdoor trips to see things like the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam. You might even want to visit Lee Canyon for skiing, snowboarding, and other fun outdoor activities.
4. The Las Vegas Pro Sports Teams Are Active in the Winter
As recently as just a few years ago, Las Vegas didn’t have any professional sports teams to speak of. But today, they have a few of these teams, including the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights, and the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces.
The Aces don’t play during the winter. But both the Raiders and Golden Knights do. You might want to look into trying to score tickets to one or both of their home games when you’re in town.
5. Las Vegas Won’t Be Too Crowded in the Winter
As we alluded to earlier, there are tens of millions of people who visit Las Vegas each year. This can make it challenging to get around during the busier months in the city.
But you shouldn’t have any trouble getting around in Las Vegas during the winter months. It’ll be noticeably quieter in the city, which will work out well for you if your plan is to kick back and relax on your winter vacation.
Don’t get us wrong: There will still be plenty of excitement in Las Vegas in the wintertime. But it won’t be as overwhelming as visiting Vegas during the spring or fall months.
6. A Winter Vacation in Las Vegas Shouldn’t Break the Bank
Since the winter months tend to be on the slower side for Las Vegas, you might be able to get access to some great deals when you take a winter vacation there. Everything from your flight to Vegas to your hotel room might cost you less than they would at other times of the year.
You should also have more options when it comes to which flights you can catch to and from Vegas and where you can stay while you’re in Vegas. You’ll have more fun with vacation planning when this is the case.
7. All Your Friends Will Be Jealous to See You on a Vegas Vacation
If you take a trip to Las Vegas in the spring, summer, or fall, a lot of your friends and family will also probably be on their own vacations and won’t be jealous of you one bit. But if you take one in the winter, they’re going to wish that they were with you once you start posting selfies from Vegas on social media.
It’s one more reason to consider flying to Vegas for a winter vacation. More than a few people are going to envy you for being able to sneak off in the middle of the winter for a Vegas vacation.
